fix: improve handling of italics in the presence of links (#11064)

* fix(formatters): don't escape * in links

* add test for * -> * in url

* `\S+` -> `\S*` (tested locally)

* @Qjuh: handle italics both inside+outside <url>s

* more accurate <link> matcher
